Most of the time, a sophrology therapy average length contains 6 to 8 sessions, one session once a week, namely approximately 2 months. According to the type of sophrology care or to the care main goal, the duration could be longer or less long. This duration is decided by the patient him/herself at the end of the introduction session anyway.

No. Sophrology is a tool which enable relaxation if this specific need is expressed by the patient. Its applications are way more numerous and various.

Like sophrology, hypnosis is also a technic generating awareness, but it differs from it for saveral reasons. The main difference is that hypnosis consists in only one kind of exercise, implying for the patient to be physically inactive. With sophrology, two kinds of exercises are used, one quite similar and the other implying for the patient to be physically active with body motion.

Like hypnosis, meditation has a few common points with sophrology but it’s very different from it: indeed, it’s a pratice that is exclusively mental-oriented, it mainly aims for facilitating relaxation and derives from spiritual nay religious origins.

A sophrology session consists of several times: exchange times between the practitioner and the patient and two kind of exercises (one during which the body is active, the other during which the body is resting, both kinds guided by the sophrology therapist).
